Hotel Jakue

Puente la Reina (Navarra)

The Hotel Jakue (St James in the Basque language), was created in 1989. Right from the outset, it was an award-winning hotel: for its aesthetics, imitating the Palaces of Puente la Reina, and for the best idea for the Way of St James. Today, this hotel is a Quality in Tourism Approved establishment, on the Wine Route and Certified by the European Union as a non-polluting, fully Green Building.

This themed hotel on the Way of St James offers a number of accommodation possibilities: bunk beds in the Official Hostel of the Government of Navarra for pilgrims; warm and welcoming hostel rooms; and hotel rooms.

The spacious, exquisitely welcoming rooms, featuring an en-suite bathroom, offer guests a rural-style ambience yet combined with all kinds of conveniences: TV, piped music, phone, air conditioning, and free WiFi connection.

The Restaurant

The restaurant serves a menu specifically designed for pilgrims. We came up with this idea in 1993, and it has been so successful, that the formula has spread as far as Finisterre.

The menu comprises a buffet of salads, hot first courses with pasta, soup or cream, second courses with the option of meat or fish directly prepared by our chefs in the Show-Cooking style, and desserts based on ice-cream or fruit.

Cafetería

The coffee shop is open from 7 am onwards, to ensure that no pilgrim starts out on an empty stomach, offering a range of tapas, sandwiches, pastries, organic products in the morning. Whilst, during the afternoon, it becomes a place to enjoy a liqueur or beer on one of its terraces, some terraces in the Chill-out style, and others under a centuries-old olive tree or in the hostel gardens, in the classic ambience of the Way of St James.

THE WAY OF ST JAMES IN A ROWING BOAT

For the first time, we can offer you the option of covering one of the stages of the Way of St James (Echarri de Etxauri-Puente la Reina) by going down the river in a rowing boat, a “magical” trip along some 15 kilometres with a duration of around four and a half hours.
